How to redact image

    JPG, PNG or WebP up to 200 MB. A photo of a document works.

    Text that looks personal is highlighted. Accept, dismiss, and draw boxes over anything missed.

    Save a PNG with the marked areas blacked out, or a PDF.

Why your file never leaves your device

Most online tools upload your file to a server, work on it there, and keep a copy for a while. Thryve Photo does the work inside your browser instead, with code that runs on your own device, so there is no upload, no copy on a server and nothing to delete afterwards. Questions, answered

Is the blacked-out text recoverable?
No. The pixels are replaced in the exported image, not covered by a layer, so there is nothing underneath to recover.
Can it find text in a photo on its own?
Yes. The text is read on your device and personal details are suggested; Aadhaar and PAN numbers are checked so random digits are not flagged.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. The photo is opened and processed inside your browser tab, on your own device, and the result is saved straight back to it. Thryve has no server that receives files.
Is it free?

Yes, in Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox on Android and iPhone, as well as on Windows, Mac and Linux. Since the work happens on the device, a large file takes longer on a phone than on a laptop.
