Why your file never leaves your device
Most online tools upload your file to a server, work on it there, and keep a copy for a while. Thryve Media does the work inside your browser instead, with code that runs on your own device, so there is no upload, no copy on a server and nothing to delete afterwards. - How much smaller will the video get?
- Phone recordings usually shrink to a quarter or less at Balanced, because phones record at far higher quality than a chat or email needs. Videos that were already compressed shrink less.
- Why does it take a while?
- The video is rebuilt on your device rather than on a server. A longer or larger video takes longer; a recent laptop handles a few minutes of phone video in about a minute.
- Is my file uploaded to a server?
- No. The file is opened and processed inside your browser tab, on your own device, and the result is saved straight back to it. Thryve has no server that receives files.
- Is it free?
